Publishing at the Medical University of Varna began in 1961, alongside the university’s establishment, with the production of educational materials to support the learning process. In 1962, the university launched its scientific journal, Annual Scientific Papers of the Higher Medical Institute – Varna, which has been published under the title Scripta Scientifica Medica since 1966.

Since 2013, publishing has been organized as an independent structural unit, Varna Medical University Press, equipped with a team of editors and specialists in design, prepress, and printing. The unit operates a printing facility for both digital and offset printing, three bookstores, and an online bookstore.
