Author Guidelines

Publishing Guidelines:

The body text of the manuscript should be prepared with MS Word for Windows:

  • format – Paper size А4
  • line spacing – Single Space
  • margins – 20 mm on all sides of the printing field
  • font – Arial or Times New Roman
  • font size – 12 Pt
  • alignment – Justified
  • page numbers

The figures must be integrated into the text with numbering and title under them. The used scanned images should be with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. The titles of the figure should be formatted in the following way:

  • font – Arial or Times New Roman,
  • font style – Italic
  • font size – 14 Pt
  • line spacing – Single Space
  • alignment – Centered

The tables must be integrated into the text with an option to edit them, Arial or Times New Roman, size 12 Pt. should be used in the tables. The numbering and titles of the tables is placed above them and should be formatted in the following way:

  • font – Arial or Times New Roman
  • font style – Italic
  • font size – 14 Pt
  • line spacing – Single Space
  • alignment – Centered

 

Language editing and proofreading are done by the Publishing Department.

 

Reviewing is done by a person with an academic rank, a specialist in the specific field.

 

The format of the published manuscript is negotiated between the author and the Publishing Department. 

Print deadlines and the distribution of author royalties are negotiated between the author/s and the Publishing Department.

The University finances the editions included in the annual publishing plan.  Submission of a form for inclusion in the annual publishing plan – HERE

 

The print of editions not included in the annual publishing plan is paid by the authors.

The figures should be submitted as separate files in the original file format (images must be in graphics format – jpg, tif, eps) and their titles must correspond to the indicated ones in the text. Scanned images should be with a 300 dpi resolution. The explanatory text to each figure or table is placed in its description text.

The tables should be integrated into the text with an option to edit them. Numbering and table titles should be placed above them.

The references should be arranged alphabetically using the name of the first author. When there is more than one source from the same author, the arrangement is chronological (from older to newer publication).

Dissertation abstracts are printed in А5 format, in a number declared by the author.

Dissertations are printed in А4 format, the Regulation Book for the Development of the Academic Staff of the Medical University of Varna.
